Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. It began as a tribute to fallen DEA special agent Enrique Camerena in 1985.
Red Ribbon Week is the country’s oldest alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention awareness campaign that takes place during the last week of October each year. Started by the National Family Partnership in 1988, the campaign focuses on educating youth in the overall prevention of drug activity.
After his death, people started wearing red ribbons to honor Kiki’s sacrifice. Today, millions of people celebrate Red Ribbon Week by wearing red ribbons, participating in community anti-drug events, and pledging to live drug-free lives.

Red Ribbon Week is a great way to make children aware of the dangers of drug use. In elementary, drug and alcohol awareness is thoroughly presented to the students in a fun and enthusiastic way. The themed week, however, seems to be ineffective towards teenagers.

The 2021 Red Ribbon Campaign Theme is Drug Free Looks Like Me™. According to the campaign website, the theme was created by Ohio 7th grader Marin Wurst.

Commander Red on the Red Ribbon Army. The Red Ribbon Army was a paramilitary criminal organization in the Dragon Ball manga/anime series, bent on conquering the world. Its main goal was to find and collect the seven Dragon Balls in order to achieve world domination.

Exercise or playing sports releases natural endorphins and hormones that makes your body feel good. Find new hobbies, such as reading, painting, gardening, woodworking, etc. Learn a new language. Volunteer around your neighborhood.
Say something like: Give a reason why you don’t want to drink or use drugs. Say something like: Ask the person not to ask you to drink or use drugs again.
Parental monitoring and supervision are critical for drug abuse prevention. These skills can be enhanced with training on rule-setting; techniques for monitoring activities; praise for appropriate behavior; and moderate, consistent discipline that enforces defined family rules.
