There are 15 official editions of the encyclopaedia, with some extensions to the 3rd and 5th editions (see the Table below). Actually, one can say that the 10th edition was only an extension to the 9th edition, and the 12th and 13th editions were extensions to the 11th edition.

Each Encyclopedia Brown book contained around 10 mysteries that Encyclopedia would solve – either a kid-centered minor crime (often involving local bully Bugs Meany, the leader of a local gang called the Tigers), or a real case that vexed his father, the police chief of the fictional town of Idaville, Florida.Jul 17, 2012

This series can be read in any order.
Before there was Wikipedia, there were encyclopedias — and Saturday marks the 300th birthday of the father of one of the world’s most important. Eighteenth-century French philosopher Denis Diderot was the driving force behind the Encyclopédie, one of the first compendiums of human knowledge of its time.
Encyclopedias written for adults — as opposed to children’s sets — cost thousands. Encyclopaedia Britannica, for example, charges $1,399 for the standard hardback version of its popular 32-volume Encyclopaedia Britannica for adults. Collier’s standard set of encyclopedias costs $1,499.
But many encyclopedias published even by well-known academic companies (I’d better not mention names, but any reference librarian will be able to make a mental list of the top handful) are largely written by graduate students or freelance writers without special knowledge.
According to Beattie, 9th and 11th Britannica Editions can sell for as much as $300 to $400 per set, if in good, clean condition. And Roundtree says a fine set of 11th Edition Britannicas can command as much as $3,000.
Encyclopedias still exist, but as the Internet has taken over everything that we do, the need for them is gone. To that end, Encyclopaedia Britannica has announced that after 244 years of doing business it is going out of print, according to a report by Media Decoder.
